Im walking down this street
Of my life and all that is me
Houses, deserted, lining each side
Stare blankly through windows of empty eyes
Shattered glass litters the ground
Dreams that were once skyward bound
Towering walls of looming gray
Splashed with graffiti that has nothing to say
Street lights of metal bent and broken
They shine no more and give light to no one
Barren trees claw towards the sky
As wind rushes through them with an eerie cry
Lifting the papers all covered with words
That were long ago uttered but have never been heard
Life and color eternally drained
And now with gray forever stained
Up above clouds linger with rain
Surely this place has seen brighter days
And the sky above rains blood shot tears
For all the joy that once was here
Then the dark it comes down
On this old, empty town
And it fills up this street
Of my life and all that is me
